JOB PURPOSE
As Trade Compliance Operations and Systems Manager, you will assist in the delivery of the Trade Compliance Strategy and ensure day to day compliance with cross border requirements, including managing operational shipments, maintaining AEO standards and managing our customs warehouse in Italy.
Additionally, you will work across multiple projects, bridging the gap between business needs and technical requirements on technology and reporting projects in the portfolio. You will work in partnership with business experts and technology teams to identify & implement solutions to meet the needs of evolving business models.
RESPONSIBILITIES
EMEIA Operations
- Lead EMEIA Trade Compliance team operationally, ensure all import/export transactions are executed in accordance with relevant Customs regulations. This includes providing clearance instructions to third party brokers and forwarders, supporting ad-hoc business inquiries, facilitating non-stock shipments and providing general business guidance on customs issues.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including logistics, product development, Finance, warehouse operations and brokerage teams to facilitate and deliver compliant cross border trade and support critical initiatives including photoshoots, architecture movements and bi-annual runway shows
- Establish and monitor metrics and key performance indicators to enable a data-driven decision-making and audit high risk customs entries
- Manage special trade programs, including management of a customs warehouse
- Ensure compliance with AEO standards
- Manage third party brokers and freight forwarders to ensure compliant customs declarations for import and export
- Provide subject matter expertise on Export Controls to the business
- Support Senior Manager with EMEIA audit queries, responding to customs authorities
- Monitor regulatory changes affecting Customs requirements and translate changes into operational procedures
- Provide assistance to and cover for Senior Manager, Americas and EMEIA as needed
- Manage 2+ direct reports, support their development and performance
System and data management
- Global Trade Management System super user – responsible for key support and supervision of the software to manage Burberry’s Italian bonded warehouse. Liaise with internal and external parties to manage urgent issues related to the movements in and out of the bonded warehouse and provide guidance and resolution on issues internally and externally.
- Manage all stock adjustments and reconciliations in Global Trade Management Systems in conjunction with the hub and inventory teams
- Provide subject matter expertise on system infrastructure projects. Communicate requirements to enterprise data and information leads, solution leads and development teams working collaboratively to develop solutions
- Understand and visualise process changes in collaboration with business stakeholders
- Support User Acceptance Testing of all solutions and reporting, working with project/Programme managers to identify required defect fixes
- Help deliver end-user training and hypercare support
