Retail

Thomas Burberry opened his first store in Basingstoke, before opening another store in London at 30 Haymarket in 1891.

Today, we operate approximately 400 mainline stores, concessions and outlets across more than 30 countries. Within each of these stores, our customers can immerse themselves in our brand, our products and the stories that inspired them.

Our retail team and in-store associates are Burberry ambassadors. They are experts in their field and share our brand values and vision with our customers, offering a unique, tailored and people-focused service at all times. Supported by a range of training and development programmes, our in-store associates are empowered to inspire customers with a breadth of brand and product knowledge. Using the best-in-class tools, our retail teams leverage their expert insight into the industry and regional trends, as well as the styling prowess gained through our training initiatives to create a truly luxury shopping experience.

People Stories

Clifton Royal
Retail Training and Education Director

“My favourite parts about working at Burberry are the people, the culture and the continued evolution of our brand. I can be my authentic self while working alongside some of the smartest and most talented people in the industry. We have such an openness to take our ideas to the table here, and we’re really encouraged to explore how to bring them to life. It makes my work feel meaningful every single day.

I think our wellbeing benefits are a true reflection of how our founder, Thomas Burberry, cared for his employees. We have so many wonderful ways to bring our colleagues together, create awareness and celebrate cultural diversity through Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). This year, I’ve begun to co-chair the LGBTQ+ ERG, where I’m exploring how to create spaces for important conversations and engage with colleagues globally. We have such an exciting journey ahead of us: we’ve already hosted two events and raised a record-breaking amount of money for the Gay Men’s Health Collective (GMHC) by walking in the AIDS Walk New York. It is just amazing to see our teams come together for causes like this.”
