JOB TITLE: SOCIAL ART DIRECTOR, CHANNEL INNOVATION

REPORTS TO: SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR

LOCATION: HORSEFERRY HOUSE, LONDON

ORGANISATION UNIT: MARKETING & COMMS

 

PURPOSE

The Social Art Director will lead Burberry's social creative team by concepting and executing social-first ideas with impeccable craft. This role involves leveraging extensive experience in art direction and collaboration with production and post-production teams to bring creative concepts to life. The Social Art Director will ensure content is inherently social and aligned with Burberry's brand values, working closely with other creatives and strategists as a key partner within the broader marketing team.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the creative for social-first projects with pioneering ideas, guiding the team through the entire process, from concept to delivery.

• Be the social creative voice in the room: Collaborate with internal and external creatives to ensure ideas are social-first, providing suggestions, and teaming up for campaign extensions.

• Serve as the Art Director on set for photoshoots and video shoots, ensuring the content captures the quality and aligns with the intended channels.

• Understand video editing techniques and tailor different outputs specifically for various platforms.

• Lead relationships with collaborators, providing necessary information and ensuring their output aligns with our brand values.

• Manage, guide, and nurture junior team members, ensuring they understand their responsibilities, feel comfortable creating, and receive support in career development.

• Be the point of contact for status updates on projects you work on directly and indirectly (within your team).

• Work closely with the Social and Marketing teams to shape social strategies, review partners, and challenge briefs to balance creative and business needs.

• Stay on top of content trends, possible collaborators, and technology that can deliver innovative content for our platforms.

• Collaborate with production teams to ensure the feasibility of ideas, overcoming barriers, and ensuring your vision aligns with Burberry's standards.

• Maintain strong working relationships with the broader team based on positivity, proactiveness, and solutions.

• Delegate tasks and manage time effectively to ensure timely delivery of work, guiding the team on best practices.

• Work in close collaboration with collaborators to create content that embodies Burberry's essence and aesthetic.

• Develop mood boards, present ideas, and lead shoots to ensure a cohesive and innovative output.

• Have an innate understanding of the social media landscape and effectively communicate ideas.

• Deliver creative concepts and projects in line with the brief.

• Achieve social reach, engagement and other KPIs.

• Gain coverage volume and quality of social campaigns within the industry.

• Elevate the quality of work produced for our digital platforms.

 

EXPERIENCE

• A highly motivated creative with a strong eye for detail and extensive understanding of the social media landscape.

• Solid experience as an Art Director, directing stills and video with channel-specific considerations.

• A keen eye for design, imagery, storytelling, and talent selection.

• A robust portfolio demonstrating social-first ideas, impeccable craft, and taste. Experience within the fashion industry is preferred.

• Knowledge of social-first creators, photographers, set designers, and other collaborators.

• Understanding of design processes and how to brief graphic, motion, and 3D designers.

• Proven ability to encourage and motivate internal and external partners.

• Ability to conceptualize ideas and manage shoot productions with limited direction.

• An inclusive team player with a positive, "can-do" attitude.

• Experience managing junior team members.

• Ability to communicate vision verbally and through presentations to senior stakeholders.

• A confident creative point of view with the ability to listen, think, and propose at an unprecedented pace.

• Highly organized and able to manage and lead multiple projects simultaneously.

• Ability to prioritize efficiently with tight deadlines and ensure follow-through.

• Proficiency in Photoshop and editing software is essential.
