JOB PURPOSE
As the Senior Manager, Risk at Burberry, you’ll oversee Group risk appetite, principal risks, related tolerances and controls through data-driven risk analysis, leveraging market information and internal insights. You will engage and influence strategic decision-makers, including the Executive Committee, and present key risk updates to the Risk Committee and Audit Committee, backed by data insights and predictive analytics.
Additionally, the role will contribute to the development and implementation of risk assessment dashboards, integrating real-time data and AL-driven analytics to support business decision-making. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for data-informed internal and external risk reporting and disclosure, ensuring transparency, regulatory alignment, and governance best practices.
This Senior Manager, Risk role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and is based in our Horseferry House, London office for a minimum of 3 days per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership of the Risk Data Manager and broader risk, audit & finance teams, driving high performance and risk capability across regions and functions
- Shape the Group’s risk strategy, lead Principal Risk updates, and deliver impactful insights to senior leadership, committees, and external reporting
- Represent Group Risk at executive forums, lead on UK Corporate Governance Code (Provision 29) compliance, and influence critical decisions through robust analysis
- Champion enhancements in risk platforms, policies, reporting, and training, embedding a modern, data-driven risk framework
- Build strong relationships across the business, guiding risk/value trade-offs and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
- Play a key role in business continuity, risk incident response, and deputise for the VP, Internal Audit & Risk
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Significant experience in Enterprise and Operational Risk Management within a large, complex organisation within industry, with a strong understanding of risk frameworks, methodologies, and assessment techniques—including scenario analysis and risk quantification
- Presentation skills at Executive Level and Board / Risk Committee level
- Detailed and comprehensive experience in risk management and reporting
- Degree level qualification in a technical, risk related subject
- Risk or GRC qualification e.g., IRM, ICA, CISI
- Project management experience
