Product Technologist

JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for a Product Technologist within the Product Engineering team at Burberry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Multi product experience including Knowledge of yarns and Knitwear testing procedures
- Support raw materials from development to industrialization (bulk)
- Help to reduce issues at bulk and improve quality to meet Burberry standards
- Assess Raw Materials in the collection at development stage and highlight production risk
- Identify opportunities for cost engineering improvement
- Responsible for all the fitting evaluation withing the given category and amendments to manufacturers
- Management of Garments testing processes internally and with the laboratories
- Management of blocks and definition of constructional quality standards
- Ensure conformance of standards and safety regulations
- Improve and create product standards min the Raw material Matrix
- Guarantee the consistency of FIT and Quality
- Resolve test failures and provide technical solutions without product compromise and aesthetics
- Cross functional work with design, Product Development, Sourcing/Production and Manufacturers
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Bachelor degree or similar in a Textile Technology or Textile chemistry and 5 years experience working as a Product Technologist in manufacturing or retailer
- Extensive experience in materials development or manufacturing
- Understanding of Product testing and test methods
- Knowledge of construction & manufacturing methods
- Product safety and risk assessments within menswear and womenswear
- Testing process and Test report approvals
- PLM/PDM experience, MS Office skills and Adobe illustrator
- Experience within patterns, grading and fits
- Ability to influence & manage situations
- Self-starting and able to prioritise and focus workload
- Able to be pragmatic, commercial and realistic whilst not compromising the Burberry standard
