JOB PURPOSE

Burberry is in search of an expert Packaging Development Co-ordinator to join the team in London. In this role you will oversee retail, digital and product packaging developments. Responsible for end-to-end development of new packaging, continuous improvement, quality assurance as well as managing standard processes and procedures for packaging development, introduction, and launch. 

Key contact internally and externally ensuring technical and quality specifications are met on time and within budget. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project lead for technical development of new packaging. Co-ordinate brief, samples and development critical path. 
  • Create, implement, and apply standard procedures for packaging development.
  • Identify ways to improve existing products (cost, raw material, sustainability, quality and production productivity)
  • Maintain appropriate product data base (technical briefs, BOMs, technical specifications, drawings, artworks and technical reports).
  • Ensure all packaging aligns with Burberry’s sustainability commitments and global EPR requirements. Keep up to date on latest industry developments and implement improvements wherever possible.
  • Apply knowledge cross functionally to highlight risks or milestone conflicts throughout all development. 
  • Work together with key stakeholders to analyse and approve development, pre-production and production samples.
  • Manage the technical and functional testing at appropriate stages of development.  
  • Partner with QA/QC and Responsibility Teams to ensure quality standards are met for all products.
  • Own and manage certification stages in accordance with the pre-determined governance approach.
  • Create required supporting documentation, user guides for launch of new items.
  • Provide support to Labelling Coordinator for product labelling development and ongoing management.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Relevant experience in packaging development or project management within a packaging environment. 
  • Packaging Project lead experience – end to end processes, product development, technical design and industrialisation.
  • Strong end to end understanding of Supply Chain Operations.
  • Used to working across multiple complex projects to strict deadlines. 
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with peers and cross-functional business partners.
  • Diligent, great eye for detail, good foresight and problem solving skills 
  • Collaborative approach with good communication skills (both written and verbal) with experience in presenting and training new concepts.
  • Flexible and adaptable and willing to learn. 
  • Enthusiastic, inquisitive and self-motivated.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Suite – specifically Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Desirable knowledge – Adobe Suite
