Data is the lifeblood of any organisation and especially so within Burberry. We are looking for an Enterprise Data Architect to help us define, and execute against, a vision of consistent master data access for applications and analytics in an architecture oriented around APIs and not around MDM systems. The role is a mix of strong application system awareness combined with a strong background in data modelling and canonical modelling. The role is very much focussed on good IT to support a constantly pivoting system landscape  in a constantly evolving business.


This role will have the responsibility for managing the CRUD application landscape from an architectural perspective and delivering single views of master data to transform Burberry data landscape into a hub and spoke architecture.

The Enterprise Data Architect will also be a key stakeholder in a number of key programme’s and will work closely with and within projects to ensure our data assets are managed and evolving.


The purpose of the role is to ensure that the data architecture within Burberry:

  • Supports the organisation, enabling the use of data to meet business outcomes, in an adaptive way;

  • Supports decision making, delivering a future-state view unconstrained by proprietary solutions or technologies and;

  • Protects our Brand and organisation through the proper classification of our information assets, taking account of relevant privacy and regulatory requirements.



  • Producing, evolving and refining the enterprise master data architecture for Burberry.
  • Establishing a target architecture and roadmap, developing this as business evolves, to support an agile-centric capability.
  • Helping to define and evolve data information principles as they relate to the enterprise master data architecture.
  • Enabling the IT and the business to reduce TCO.
  • Raise and resolve any architectural issues/risks where tactical solutions are proposed
  • Providing guidance for the implementation of data-centric services and solutions
  • Creating and managing data models in all their forms, including conceptual and logical forms.
  • Engaging and directing any ‘Proof of Concept’ or prototyping of applications and solutions.



  • A minimum five years' of experience in IT, experience with multiple applications, and with at least two years in data solutions.
  • In-depth hands-on experience of working with master data, integrations and data modeling.
  • Proven IT experience within FMCG, Retail or Ecommerce companies preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of retail/supply chain end-to-end processes and ability to demonstrate successful working relationships with business management colleagues.
  • Experience of business process transformation & organisational change.
  • Critical to success in this position is an ability to grasp complex technical processes/challenges and using entrepreneurial thinking to create solutions that are pragmatic.
  • This is a role that will require an individual to be able to communicate strongly with both senior business leaders and IT Leadership.
  • All-round experience of a range of technology solutions
  • Previous experience working within an Enterprise Architecture function is preferred.
  • Experience of data modelling tools / Enterprise Data applications preferred.
