The BI Analyst position will play an important part at Burberry over the coming years in Burberry’s Information delivery ambitions. The successful individual will be expected to actively perform across a range of Information delivery, optimisation and exploitation initiatives which will help Burberry to move towards their goal of becoming a Data-led organisation. The objective being to deliver deeper insight into Business Intelligence across all Business functions to help drive improved productivity and performance.


  • Understand the key information and Business Intelligence needs of the different business functions
  • Rapidly develop a deep understanding of the business processes
  • Understand the data behind the business processes and then how this can be harnessed towards fulfilling the Business Information & BI requirements
  • Play a key role in defining the overall information architecture
  • Management and governance of information from a BI PoV
  • Have knowledge of KPI’s and metrics for the retail sector:

  • Understand the definitions of the KPI’s / metrics
  • Discuss the options for different data sources for constructing the various KPI’s / Metrics

  • Work with the business to help shape / plan the delivery of prioritised KPI’s / Metrics
  • Help the Business in moving towards a self-service model in terms of Information & Business Intelligence and then act as a trusted advisor
  • Work with the IT delivery managers to guide and influence the delivery
  • Work with the Data architects to influence data architecture from a BI PoV as well as ensure that the Data architecture supports the Information architecture
  • Work with the Functional Solution Owners to ensure that the Information Requirements are factored into the process design from the start
  • Can lead, direct and coach a technical delivery team (across multiple global locations) towards timely delivery of BI solutions
  • Has experience of logical data modelling and data modelling.


The ideal candidate may not be from a SAP BI technical delivery background but should have experience working with SAP as a user. The Business facing aspect is key to this role.

  • This is not primarily a technical role but the following is very desirable from the point of view of working with the technical streams:
    • Knowledge of SAP BI and SAP ERP technologies is essential

  • Good understanding of commercial finance, supply chain, procurement and inventory
  • Ability to work closely with project managers and feed into the overall delivery plans
  • Experience within the retail space will be a distinct advantage.
