Senior Manager Procurement Excellence

JOB PURPOSE

To lead the design, lead procurement transformation and delivery of procurement excellence strategies that optimise performance, enhance capability, and ensure best-in-class standards across the procurement function to increase spend under management. The role supports the organisation in achieving strategic, commercial, and sustainability objectives through continuous improvement and innovation in procurement practices, systems and policies from Source to Pay.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute the procurement excellence strategy to drive best-in-class procurement practices with ownership of all procurement excellence initiatives, driving the transformation of the procurement function from Source to Pay,
  • Identify and implement process improvements, standardisation initiatives, and automation opportunities across the procurement lifecycle.
  • Lead or support strategic transformation projects within procurement, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget
  • Drive strategic enhancements across the Purchase Requisition to Payment (PR to Pay) lifecycle, ensuring streamlined operations, increased compliance, and measurable gains.  Lead continuous improvement to deliver robust cost governance and financial transparency across the organisation and report on progress.
  • Ensure processes are documented and appropriately communicated to internal and external stakeholders.  These are to be adapted for on-line and off line audiences and be appropriately engaging to ensure compliance.
  • Champion procurement compliance, embedding robust governance frameworks and achieving alignment with policies, procedures, and risk controls.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote engagement, transparency, and understanding of procurement processes and value delivery
  • Support the development of procurement capability through training, knowledge-sharing, and mentoring within the procurement team
  • Manage direct reports and provide continuous training and development to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the Procurement Operations team
  • Monitor, measure, and report on procurement KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and delivering data-driven insights
  • Lead the ongoing management and refinement of the Procurement Spend Cube, delivering insightful, data-driven reports and trend analysis to the procurement team with actionable intelligence to drive informed decision-making to support the development of category strategies, and enable continuous improvement across spend categories
  • Respond to adhoc queries and analysis as required, prioritising work effectively to ensure that these queries are responded to on a timely basis
  • Promote and embed sustainable and socially responsible procurement practices, including social value, ESG, and diverse supplier initiatives.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Previous experience of Procurement Excellence position with the ability to demonstrate continued improvement within the procurement function
  • Analytical with great attention to detail and an ability to troubleshoot complex problems, identify process issues and ensure accuracy and compliance to procurement processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of procurement principles, governance, compliance, risk management and best practice through the Source to Pay cycle.
  • Proficiency of procurement technologies (e.g., SAP Ariba) and data visualisation tools is a plus.
  • Using information to create reports for different Users and being able to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to demonstrate previous experience of senior stakeholder engagement.
  • Requires good understanding of IT procurement systems and processes.
