JOB PURPOSE

We are hiring an RTR Senior Accountant to join Burberry Business Services in Leeds and help deliver accurate, timely financial reporting across the Americas region. Working within the Record to Report team, you will take ownership of key accounting activities, strengthen financial controls and build trusted partnerships with regional and Group Finance stakeholders. You will bring clarity to complex financial information while identifying opportunities to improve the way we work. From time to time, you may also support other regions in response to business priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take ownership of Americas gross margin accounting, including sales adjustments and transport and duty postings, to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage intercompany balances across the Americas, matching transactions, investigating variances and resolving reconciliation differences.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, identify financial risks and opportunities, and ensure issues are addressed in a timely way.
  • Prepare and review manual journals and Record to Report information for internal, external and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with regional commercial teams, Group Finance and external auditors to resolve queries, coordinate reporting activities and gather supporting evidence.
  • Maintain effective financial controls and Group policy compliance while using insight and feedback to improve end-to-end accounting processes.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Studying towards, or qualified in, a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent.
  • Relevant accounting experience that has developed a strong grounding in financial reporting, reconciliations and control.
  • Practical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, with the ability to apply accounting principles in a complex business environment.
  • Confidence working with large data sets and complex Excel models, alongside broader Microsoft Office capability.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to build effective relationships, communicate clearly and consider the wider commercial context.
  • Careful attention to detail, sound judgement and an improvement-focused mindset; exposure to SAP, BPC, multicurrency accounting, retail, FMCG or a shared service environment would be beneficial.
