JOB PURPOSE

 

As the Finance Manager, Inventory at Burberry, you will oversee the full cycle of inventory accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and controls related to inventory. A large part of this role is managing a talented team of accountants across inventory and RMX (Raw Material Excess) activities, as well as driving continuous process improvements to enhance efficiencies across inventory accounting operations.

 

This Finance Manager, Inventory role is offered on a permanent, full time basis and will be based in our Queens Street, Leeds office for 3 days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Managing a high-performing team of accountants, ensuring they have the necessary skills and capacity to deliver on time and to a high standard
  • Overseeing month-end and year-end close activities related to inventory accounts, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, including the planning, merchandising and product teams, to understand and anticipate needs, challenges and provide solutions
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimise inventory accounting processes, controls, and systems; encouraging issue identification and implementation of corrective and preventive action plans to resolve problems and improve processes
  • Coordinating with external auditors during audit cycles and provide required inventory accounting documentation and explanations
  • Working closely with the wider finance function on projects, systems improvements and ways of working

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Relevant experience within finance/accounting in a large, global organisation
  • Demonstrable experience in managing/supervising a team, effectively leading and getting the best out of people, including during demanding periods
  • Proficient in Excel essential; SAP, BPC and Power BI/Power Apps useful
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively across business functions
  • Builds relationships at all levels through interpersonal skill and technical expertise to aid cross-functional working, delivery and a sense of collaboration and teamwork
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English (verbal & written)
  • Must be able to understand broader business issues and provide functional guidance to direct reports, rather than relying solely on personal technical expertise
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with changing business demands
