JOB PURPOSE

Burberry is looking for a skilled Health and Safety advisor to join our Internal Manufacturing team. In this position you will provide proactive Health & Safety practitioner and business partner support to our UK Supply Chain locations, while managing external H&S specialist services in line with the responsibilities outlined in this job description. You will work in partnership with the leadership teams at Burberry Castleford, Burberry Mill (Internal Manufacturing) and Burberry Blyth (Distribution). You will support the continued development and implementation of Burberry’s Health & Safety policies and strategy. All in service of protecting our people, our brand, and the experience we deliver to our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead proactive Health & Safety communications to report and analyse trends, driving improvements through to closure, while developing competence as a workplace equipment safety specialist.
  • Undertake risk‑based health and safety inspections and assessments, instigate internal and external gap analysis, and lead targeted proactive monitoring to attain and maintain H&S legal compliance and best practice.
  • Partner with the line manager and Technical Health and Safety Manager to ensure all fire safety measures are in place; take a leading role in UK Supply Chain emergency planning, ensuring day‑to‑day support roles (H&S Champions, fire wardens, first aid, incident controller) are clearly defined, trained and in place.
  • Monitor and support the reporting, categorisation and investigation of all health and safety incidents, ensuring sufficient detail, identifying underlying causes, recording findings and recommendations, championing incident, accident and near‑miss reduction, and acting as the point of contact for any insurance reviews.
  • Become a Highfield‑approved tutor and help deliver accredited training content, inductions and visitor safety briefings.
  • Provide support, coaching and training to production managers, team leaders, operators and apprentices to help maintain an effective health and safety culture, while ensuring close attention to contractor management, plant and equipment standards, and influencing positive safety behaviours across the site.
  • Support teams with their Mental and Occupational Health and Wellbeing programmes, initiatives and objectives.
  • Support internal colleagues and the global Health & Safety team with the development and implementation of H&S objectives, targets, policies, processes, procedures and management standards; lead and interpret leading and lagging performance measurements, providing location insight and supporting internal and external reporting; and contribute to H&S business cases, papers and technical analysis in support of governance requirements.
  • Represent UK Supply Chain within the global Health & Safety team structure, using effective presentation skills to drive awareness and raise standards.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution health and safety role, with a minimum TechIOSH level or equivalent through a recognised professional body (IOSH/IIRSM). 
  • Experience or qualifications related to RRO, PUWER, DSEAR, LOLER, CDM, Training.
  • Project management experience (Desirable).
  • IT skills in the use of the usual packages such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, intranet, and excellent organisational skills.
