Purpose

The Master Data Manager will be responsible for the management of Burberry’s master data assets. This role involves establishing data management strategies, standards, and policies to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across all systems. The Master Data Manager will closely collaborate with various business units to define data processes and work closely with IT to implement master data solutions. This position is crucial for maintaining high-quality master data, which is foundational for reliable business intelligence, analytics, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Pro-actively manage and co-ordinate a team of onshore and offshore Data Analysts to ensure that agreed master data is maintained and available to the business in a timely manner and to agreed quality levels
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance and validation of master data in SAP
  • Have good knowledge of areas of responsibility
  • Have financial acumen, broad knowledge of financial management principles
  • Ability to represent on projects to implement new data requirements in SAP and other systems, being aware of data and business process impacts adding value to ensure a successful implementation.
  • Manage internal project to simplify and automate data processes coming up with ideas to implement and following through with IT and business partners to build, deployment and training.
  • Develop and implement policies standards and procedures to ensure data quality and compliance
  • Understand business processes end to end in order to ensure impact is known and documented
  • Conduct regular data audits and implement corrective actions to ensure the agreed data compliance and security considerations are executed in the data creation and maintenance processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and ensure the integrity and accuracy of master data
  • Monitor and manage data related issues, analyse and report on master data metrics on regular basis.
  • Lead and participate in master data management projects and initiatives including system upgrades, change requests and process improvements
  • Develop and maintain documentation and standards to ensure they are always kept up to date
  • Pro-actively identify continuous improvement opportunities for master data maintenance processes and procedures from an efficiency and a quality point of view, managing an improvements budget and tracking progress with cross functional teams and developers.
  • Liaises with & interacts with all levels of IT & Business management to ensure that data SLA’s are met and mitigation plans are formulated and implemented when SLA shortfalls occur
  • Work closely with Finance Compliance and Internal Audit teams to address concerns regarding master data processes

 

Experience

  • Experience of working in a data operations management role and driving process efficiency and data quality / standards
  • Previous experience with PLM, SAP and/or other central data systems is desirable
  • Experience motivating, supporting, and guiding direct reports to ensure that they are fully engaged and productive
  • Ability to be hands on as needed, while empowering direct reports to own specific activities or deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey information succinctly and concisely
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and work effectively with others at all levels across the business
  • Ability to manage large sets of data, and identify and fix errors
  • Ability to quickly manipulate data, and prepare reports as needed in an environment with large data sets
