The role of Business Intelligence Project manager is an important one for enabling Burberry to execute on their Business Intelligence ambitions by helping to turn strategy into successful project implementations.

The role will manage the implementation of a diverse range of projects covering a leading edge set of Business Intelligence technologies and encompassing the whole range of Business Functions within Burberry. This is a great opportunity to implement BI projects that will drive fundamental improvement in how BI is designed, delivered and used at Burberry. You will be leading teams of BI experts to deliver solutions that help drive improved Business efficiency. You will be expected to lead by example and the role will provide variety and challenge.


  • Working closely with the Business and agreeing project objectives
  • Working closely with the Business and the technical BI Teams to define the project timelines and budgets
  • Taking project / programme budgets through the internal Investment review and approval process
  • Creating and refining project plans for the implementation of approved projects
  • Carrying out day-to-day project management tasks such as management of resources to perform specific project tasks. Project resources may be functionally as well as geographically  diverse
  • Helping and driving the resolution of issues that arise on the projects – these could be technical, organisational , scheduling issues etc
  • Carrying out project risks (technical and non-technical) and then devising the appropriate risk mitigation strategies to make sure these risks are managed effectively
  • Managing the solution build activities as well as testing, cut-over, post go-live support and documentation
  • Ensuring that defined quality standards are met
  • Monitoring project budgets and preparing formal project financial statements as well as forecasts
  • Submitting timely project status reports to the specified format and standards
  • Working with senior BI management to help define roadmaps and planning future projects.


  • Have a proven and demonstrable track record in project management
  • Have worked in the Business Intelligence area and be aware of how BI projects are managed
  • Agile and well as Waterfall delivery methodologies
  • Knowledge of SAP Business Intelligence technologies is a major advantage – but not essential
  • Demonstrable evidence of having worked in a heterogeneous technology environment and be aware of the challenges of solution integration in such environments
  • A good understanding of the importance of good data as a key enabler of BI solutions
  • Formal project management methodologies such as ITIL and PRINCE are an advantage.
